Morning. Counterfeit designer luxury goods have become a huge problem here in the US. Perhaps even a bigger problem in Europe. Counterfeit luxury items have become such a monumental problem over there that they have found their way into the courts. And the courts have taken to really looking at the whole context to determine whether or not the damages in these cases should be effectively stopping these counterfeits. So Rolex and Chanel and Louis Vuitton and these large designer brands and houses are filing suits against these counterfeit companies. These are large companies that are making huge amounts of money on these counterfeits, but the courts are looking at the context. They’re not selling these counterfeits on the street, because you would know that if you’re buying a Louis Vuitton on the street, it’s not real. They’re looking at the context. They’re being sold in high-end boutiques for $5,000. And the courts say when you’re deceiving people by selling them in these high-end boutiques for high amounts of money, they might believe that that’s a real luxury good, and that’s when they’re fining people up to 100,000 pounds per counterfeit item. That’s monumental. We haven’t seen that here in the US, but I imagine we will pretty soon because everything that happens over there will find its way here the same way it goes in the reverse. So if you want to know more about what’s happening in trademark and counterfeit goods, stay here at Enoch Tarver. Thanks.

Real vs. Fake Luxury Bags: Identification Guide
